Haven t seen mites on nest or eggs but i put out diatomaceous earth just in case. At first i thought i had a feather eater but it didn t get any better after i separated them into breeding pens last month.

jane DE dont do SH it is not a great thing to use. LOL flip your chicken upside down and look above the vent and in the clear part of the wing where it joins the body.

And then you can just treat them anyways. LOL red mites only come out at night feed on the chicken and are back in hiding come morning. @Yorkshire coop is a good one to talk to as she is anal about keeping them gone and would know the best treatments. (No offense York) .

Could they just be molting?

do you know how long molt lasts ? I hardly ever notice mine molting . They must do it slow.

I notice mine molting. They get bald and lots of feathers around. Lol
