How goes things this evening?
That's the quandary with autism. Logic and thinking skills are generally at a very advanced level, but the social skills are behind, or even absent in severe cases, and present a serious hurdle. It's good to have autism diagnosed because then help is available and people (employers) are starting to understand the abilities and limitations of autistic people. Aspergers is still a quasi-condition. Some people recognize it and others don't, saying it is not different than a quirky or eccentric personality. I think there is useful work out there for Robert. You said he got high marks in the electrician's course. He could do some sort of technical repair or build work, and would probably even enjoy it. I hope the agency that sends you his worker can put employment in Robert's future. The right conditions and an understanding boss and he could thrive.
Sorry, wasn't ignoring anybody. Dad called to make sure the house was still standing and checked the mail!! I got the scarf from mike!!!!!
Quote:On those teachers! They want to smash a square peg into a round hole. Too much work for them to think outside the box and do what's best for the child. I think things have changed quite a bit since Robert was in school.![]()

they have work shops. He has been offered and he refuses. Based on principal. they will pay him less then min. wage . He feels they take advantage of the special needs people. He sees them working in Good will and it upsets him because he knows they are not paid like a "normal" would be. He also lets them know about it. He now refuses those shopping places.
I'm down to follow his leading on that. Can't even imagine.

That's not the right setting for Robert, customer service. no way. He needs something more like a factory type job. My sis works at a small company that designs and builds machines used in cabinet making. One of the young men that works out in the shop is an Aspergers type guy. He does extremely well building machines and putting together circuitry. He is not seen as disabled in any way, but they would never ask him to answer phones or deal with customers. Not in his comfort zone. Robert could do a job like that I bet.
Glad to hear it.Mum good!!! I got the Liverpool remembrance from shell shocked in the mail just now. I'm reading the booklet.
