I was told if the air cant escape it can explode.  Torture chamber is a dangerous place to be !

I have 4 different pressure cookers. One for deep frying, one that's a 6 in 1 pressure cooker. I can cook stews, soups, sauté, slow cook, make rice and regular pressure cook. I use this one a lot, there is a valve you turn to lock or release pressure, as long as you make sure all pressure has been released there's no problem.

However my pressure cooker for canning is very old. Last year the lid wasn't on correctly and I was fiddling with it and it popped off. I didn't realize there was pressure in it. I wound up with burns on chest, left arm and thigh. Kept ice packs on it all night. Had no blisters was sore for awhile and I now have a light scar.

So this year having my old one and the one my aunt gave me checked out before I try and use them.
