I agree with Linda, heredity and age.  sometimes caused from blockage or nerve damage.  Its not unusual for your hair to thin as you age. I know this for fact.   The hair follicles age, the skin grows thinner and when the hair is damaged its not as likely to grow back. I have lost all the hair on both of my legs from the knees down..  and some up.  But, with any advise comes a warning, blood clots can kill and it should be evaluated by a dr.
