I am just laying on my bed under the fan until it gets below 90.

That's too hot! And it looks like temps will stay fairly high for the rest of the week. We didn't have temps like this for the last few summers. With this season's almost normal rainfall, it's going to be a bad fire season.

I have my fan going in the kitchen. Ahhh... We are down to 88 already, so hoping it will cool down better tonight. Do you have ac?

Granny....
What the heck??!?

Did this man have to drive far?
That really sucks......sorry.

Heat and stress will do it.

Speaking of which, I have some watermelon I need to feed them today. Back in a flash.

What do you do to keep your chickens cool?

Give them tinted sunglasses and a gold chain necklace!

LOL!

I have frozen a water in a few milk jugs and filled a few gallon size bags with water and have them in the freezer too.
My babies are still indoors but will be moving out soon and I'm already getting worried about the summer heat. I read something about a baby pool working for someone, but I thought chickens didn't like to get wet. I can't add an ac because i have the coop open on two sides...so maybe a mister and a fan my be a good idea for me too.

Im just wondering what else people actually use.

I free range, and they go deep into the woods and dig sandy wallows under the brush.

Cooped babies get pans of water to dip their feet, plus extra treats like cold watermelon, cabbage or lettuce heads, etc. And as little direct sun as I can manage.

Brooder babies get nothing during the day (unless it's over 95) and a heat bulb at night. I have a thermo in the brooder to monitor temps. They need very consistent temps til they feather.

Everyone gets cool water in lots of places, rarely with electrolytes unless they seem in distress, and then only in the main waterer. Everyone (except the babiest babies) gets watermelon rinds and salad bar leftovers from the camp, plus veggie trimmings.

Several years ago my brother went with us to Iowa. We had the same raising, so he's fairly country. We hunted deer and squirrel, and picked produce in grandpas garden. But he was extremely impressed with the apples that DH's godmother picked from a neighbors orchard, and said he had never had apples from a tree before. :lau
