Me too

Happy 4th to everyone, feels like I've been gone a decade. Will be hiding the WiFi hotpot from gd now that our data renewed today. She blew through hers & ours by mid month this past month, hence my MIA from BYC. Hope you all have enjoyed a good day with family & friends. We had grandsons all weekend, just got them dropped off 2 hours ago. The baby was pretty fussy with cutting teeth & the 2 1/2 year old thinks he's an army Sargent & NO is his favorite word at the moment. It will take me a week to recover, lol. 14 year old gd has been here 3 weeks already. Really missing my morning quiet time. Love my grandkids to death, but some days I wanna run away. Gd is working at our local ice cream shop this summer so I'm driving her back and forth to work. Wish her boss would schedule her for more than 3 hours a day. Feels like I stop working to run her to work, just get home & start back working and then it's time to pick her back up grrr..... Thanks for letting me unload, it's been a hectic week. Going to go read for a bit, then off to bed. :hugs for everybody
oh I hated running my son to work for two or three hours in fast food. And sometimes he'd work two hours , get off for a few and then go work two more. I'd come out cheaper if he hadn't worked. But like you, he started working at 14 or 15. He had great work ethics. He's been working at the same place too. He'll soon be 21. I'm trying to talk him into finding a better job or go back to school. You're right. Its very hard to find someone that wants to work these days.

It's good experience for her to learn the value of a dollar. Her parents are way better off than Rod & I ever were while raising kids. Never regretted that, our kids started working at 14. They learned the value of money & to be hard workers. Kids of today just want everything handed to them. My only gripe is about some of her short hour days. This time of year is so crazy for me, but we will make it work.

I skipped a lot of pages.

One of the best trips to NOLA I've ever had. We had cafe au lait and beignets for breakfast:

We spent about an hour browsing shops on our way to a bank, which was closed, then we meandered back. We got the girls back to the cathedral in time for mass, then we went to a bookstore that is in an old house that William Faulkner lived in for a time. Then we went to a used bookstore.

We picked the girls back up and had lunch at Cafe Masperro, one of my favorite restaurants. I had a veggie muffuletta. More shopping, and we decided to buy our own fireworks instead of staying for the show.
