The fireworks were crazy last. Sis's street looked like a war zone, filled with smoke and flashing, crackling explosions of light. Tons of illegal stuff going off nearby too, big booms and bright explosions high up. We could even see much of the "official" display put on at the university. Quite a night!

I just can't believe how out of control all the illegal fireworks are..I woke up at 11:30 pm and it still sounded like a war zone. I feel bad for the animals and the veterans that suffer.

There are only 4 towns in the entire county that allow the sale and use of "safe and sane" fireworks.  So many people come into those 4 towns just for the fireworks, and of course bring the illegal stuff with them.  Last year, the Walmart parking lot was one huge fireworks party.  The police do their best to stop the crazy stuff, but there is only so much they can do.  Heavy drippy fog last night, with about 150' ceiling, so at least there was some moisture around, even though you couldn't see the stuff that went very high. 

I am talking illegal as in fireworks from Mexico. They sound like bombs going off. Not the safe and sane. Of course those are still really loud.

Our police in Stockton don't even have time to respond to illegal fireworks.
