they had a special name for it. old fashion name. wish I could remember. a lot of babies died.

DD was stuck in the birth canal because I only dilated to 8.5 cm. Emergency c-section. We likely wouldn't have survived either, 100 years ago.

Cholera Infantum (or summer diarrhea of infants) was a major cause of infant death in the late 1800s. The term cholera described the symptoms that the infant experience. Cholera Infantum is distinct from the epidemic Cholera described above. It was a non-contagious disease of young children who had been weaned from the breast. It occurred chiefly between the months of April and October.
Cholera Infantum was also called summer complaint, water gripes or weaning brash on the death certificate.

DH just took the kids to the movies. I stayed home to clean and rest. It's just too hot today.

My feet are so tired. Even just sitting on the sofa they ache. I'm going to soak in Epsom salts and watch a movie on tv, then put on my best tennis shoes. I don't want to nap the day away, but....
