Again, I can only speak for horses, but they do a lot of up and down preceding delivery. I think it is to relieve pain and reposition the foal, but it's just my idea, because almost all the mares would do that. Don't be surprised it it's dark before the kid(s) arrive. I don't think we ever had a foal born in the light of day.
