Hi Linda! Sorry it's been crazy and not much has changed round here.. Same oh same oh. I have been free ranging my chicks and they have done good and getting so big. My two older leghorns were free ranging and I had put a dog house out for them so it would be easier to get them in and out and what did those silly things do! I went to find them this afternoon and they had hopped back in their big tote! Instead of the dog house with the water and food in it!!
I am gonna mosey, starting to drift in the chair. Hope everyone sleeps well.

Hi granny hate to say hi and bye but it's bed time night love yall
makes me not want to sell him. He is so mean. I have 2 hens and him. I have mixed tolbunt but no other roo but him. Lot of people like the candy corn too. Have you seen those ?
I wish mutt was still on. Is h2o on?. I need advice.... Oly has been guarding the food dishes. This is new. How do I break this.
Is he the first picture?
Quote: After seeing the hole in CB's ankle, I'd be tempted to twist that froufy head right off.But since you have been trying for 3 years, and the chances of getting another rooster are pretty slim, I would see if I could figure out a way to keep him or figure out what is triggering the attacks and try to eliminate the trigger. He always goes for feet? Not heads? Wrap your feet with plastic bags (to hide the shoes??) or rig up some protection. Wrap legs in some old carpet pieces. Boots like Linda said. I've never been attacked by a rooster, so not sure what that spur can get through. CB needs some leather chaps or shin guards or something. Feed bags and duct tape? Split a couple of corks and glue them over the spurs?![]()
Just thinking if you sold him it would be the end of your Tolbunt project.
Quote: In the mean time, don't leave the dishes on the floor. Pick them up after they eat. Nothing to guard until h2o finds better ideas. You may also want to move the feeding to a spot where Oly feels safer. If she wasn't guarding at your old place, it may be she feels threatened at your folks' place for some reason. Maybe to a spot that doesn't have a lot of traffic.
I did read (or see, maybe on Cesar Milan) something about what essentially amounts to spoon feeding her the meal. You hold the dish and give her one bite at a time, making her work for each bite. (sit, down, look at me) You own her bowl. Eventually you give her permission to eat from "your" bowl, but pick it up several times during the meal. I had a lot of dominance issues with Belle, so did a ton of research. I made sure anyone could pick up her dish in mid meal, but we started very young with her.
