Tibbets is a Trim bull and very very nice looking so far. But then I would have to replace Porter much sooner then planned.

Should I get those 3 other Royal cows I am hoping either Sbr 19 or Janet are preggers and give me a bull calf.
What s in the licks that they need daily?

it mainly suppliments to help put them in better form for breeding and also some type of "voodoo stuff" that prevents fly maggots from hatching in their poo. Sort of a way to help slow down or break the fly cycle.

and native trumps imperial ??

yes. Imperial is recessive. You need 2 imperial genes to get a black nose. Of course if the yak has a white face (royal or trim) you may not be able to see the black nose, but the the imperial genes would still be there.

NE-22 is a Nutritionally Engineered mineral-fortified supplement designed to complement summer pastures or medium quality forages. This unique supplement is second to none when compared to other low-moisture blocks. This block is the product of a state-of-the-art patented process that provides a unique 24-hour feeding system. NE-22 is an exceptionally dense all-weather block that will give you the most for your money.
Here’s how:

  • Economical: A low feeding rate of 0.5 to 1 lb per head daily can significantly minimize your feeding costs on a cost per head per day basis.
  • High Mineral Fortification: This supplement is Vitamin and Mineral fortified eliminating the need to feed additional free-choice minerals, resulting in a significant supplemental feed cost savings.
  • Weather Resistant: The patented, “continuous flow” system creates a quality, low-moisture, exceptionally dense block that maintains its integrity even in hot, humid weather or precipitation.
  • Minimal Labor: SmartLic

That's up to you! Yak math is a lot more expensive than chicken math. If you are trying for royal calves, you will have to get a trim or royal bull at some point. Are they really that much more valuable??

Oh, and just a disclaimer, all this yak genetic info came from that one link from the breeder. If his info is incorrect, so is mine. I am just interpreting what he said.

My hair is dry and frizzy. I need some of this!

Exactly.  25% solid,   50% trim,  25% royal

What messes me up is we have different words for coloring. I can't keep Royal, trim or imperial strait. I need a color chart..

We called our white markings , iriish marked, and more than 50 percent white is a parti or a piebald.

The gene is S. I believe it is an Incomplete penetrance gene.

We don't have the gray nose thing, they either have a black nose or a brown noes. If it is pink that is bad, not enough pigment.
