That's it! Guess trichinosis is mostly in pigs. At first when this said trichomoniasis was an STD, it made me wonder how it was jumping species!

Well, I identified one place I won't be getting chicks from when the time comes.....there's a little mom & pop type pet store in the next town over, the kind of place I really like to try to support, and they have a late order of chicks in right now. Well, I was there today looking for some food for the cat and dog and noticed they hadn't sold all the chicks yet (we were also there the day they came in which was a week or two ago) so I went over to torture myself looking at them and noticed this time they were actually labeled -- they want $8/bird for straight run and $12/bird for sexed pullet chicks........

These are regular old, run-of-the-mill hatchery stock birds of standard breeds!
Anyway, in other news, I have also found at least two alternative stores that are actual farm stores and sell their chicks at realistic prices.........

That's either marketing genius or the pet store owner has a huge flock made up of all the unsold ones.

Just went to the feed store today. No more chicks for sale, but they had some turkey poults.

Mornings, It was so very nice to have something to read this am and know how everyone is doing.
Twist, chicks in winter is hard. they need the heat longer and there isnt much of a selection thats for sure.
I gave a friend a dozen of my new eggs to eat and she incubated them. I knew fertility was bad but she got 4 of 12. They are so very cute. I am sitting on my hands. I just know something will happen to that tolbunt roo before I breed them in the spring.

To my FB friends, My sister hasnt told her DD yet about the cancer because she is taking her tests to become a nurse. I took the blue ribbons down for that reason.
