Sounds like your long term plan is gonna be breeding father to daughter. I really don't understand the genetics of it all.. Or you could just go with porter and his harem for a bit to sell and butcher than replace as they get too old. I don't think I'll be doing any large breed animals when I get my farm.

they can be fun but also expensive until you get everything going and then make a name for yourself. Major thing is to try to find a large animal that fits the size farm you have and you enjoy/like. You think keeping chickens in feed is expensive try it with a bunch of large animals. Honestly since Porter seems to sire mainly bull calves I may have to continue to find/buy replacement heifers and cows. Also you don't even try to breed a heifer until she is 3 and more often 4 as they (females) just aren't ready.

Also Yaks offer many different areas/possibilities for attempting to break even, There is hair, milk, cheese, breeding stock, slaughter, skulls , processed hides, tails . I think for me slaughter and the dairy will be my last options. As in probably never

is it the split hooved thing  like old pictures of Satan that do it ??    Are you going to keep trying on the tolbunt project or moving on to some other.

Not sure what it is with bovine creatures but I always imagine they will chase and trample you.
Not decided yet on the Tolbunts :/ As we are heading into winter I'm just leaving things as they are for now and will decide in January what I'm going to do for the spring. Just not sure really as my gold lace hens will be 3 years old this coming May so don't really want to use their eggs with them being older. Plus this Tolbunt cockerel really needs to man up as the hens make mince meat of him!
