I don't understand what happened to my poor boys feet!!! I feel horrible. 😭 Hes been isolated inside my house with a similar aged pullet since he got his butt kicked by my other roosters 2 months back and i decided ill keep him in til hes similar in size to them all. His comb is perfect, hes eating and drinking great. I didnt notice anything was up until i was changing the bedding and noticed his feet were... Well, gone! This was after me soaking him and i applied hen healer and gave him rooster booster and denstat. Is it frostbite? I don't get how he could have gotten it when his sister is fine, and hes inside my home! He's acting like nothing has happened at all, and i feel horrible for not noticing sooner. I know for a fact two weeks ago his feet were normal, he was on my shoulder as i was cleaning his cage, hes such a good boy and I have failed him! 😭 I have him now in a much smaller cage alone with puppy pads down and no roosting spots. What else can i do for him?

Oh my! Don't beat your self up, these things just happen. Hopefully we can make him comfortable, I'll tag some experts that can help more. @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive @Overo Mare @azygous @casportpony

Your doing a great job with him so far. I would just leave them be, if it is frostbite, then touching his feet will be painful. I am stumped, I have no idea. I will offer my support and say really good job on you part for taking such good care of him. This is not you fault.

Can you separate him in his own cage but still have a hen for him near buy so he isn't alone? See by no touch so she can't do any more damage is great. Also try to offer electrolytes in his water, it may not be necessary but it never hurts, and keep him on the rooster booster for extra vitamins. I hope we can find a solution soon, I'm so sorry your going through this! :hugs

How is he normally housed inside your home - wire cage, what type of bedding, etc.?
A photo of housing and of course all of him would be good too - I would love to see his face too:)

Could he have hung up his feet in wire of a cage or was possible the bedding was wet due to water spillage (turning over a water station)?

He's lost the tips of his toes. Frostbite can do that, but if he's been inside a warm house for 2 months that's unlikely, unless your outside temps were cold 2 months ago or so - where are you located in the world? We don't need your address, but at least your state or country would be good.

You mention you had soaked his feet and noticed the tips of the toes were gone. What is the reason you were soaking the feet? Were they heavily soiled with poop (caked with or had poop balls stuck to them)?

Could it be nutritional? He feels more boney than normal too, I'm gonna scramble some eggs for him and give him extra mealworms.

Hes normally inside a 3 ft metal tub, similar to what tractor supply house their chicks in, the lid is a metal mesh lid similar to chicken wire but thicker and tinier holes. The bedding is mainly pine bedding but I have pine pellets at the bottom and its around 1 ft deep. It was freezing at the end of December so I think youre right, he most likely got it before i brought him in , it dropped down to 12 °f on christmas morning. And sorry, I noticed the tips were gone and then soaked because I read online i needed to keep it clean. the feet werent super soiled, but there was some muck on the ends where the skin is gone. His sisters feets were complete clean and fine. He also had a bad habit the first few weeks of tipping his waterer over.I will try and take some more pics of him soon.
