Graphic-HELP! White looking, long membrane hanging from vent!

Thanks MelissaR, I have a call in to my friend who is a vet, I'll ask her too. If the chickens have tapeworms, and my dogs eat chicken poo, does that mean my dogs can catch it too?

Yes, and you will always have to deal with fighting them from here on out. Just keep a regular supply on hand to fight them and deworm regularly.

I was just able to gently pull it out, I have saved it and will have my vet look it over. I spoke to her and she thinks it may be tapeworm but it looked a little weird to me. Kinda slimy and bulbous in one area. Hmmmmm…?

Could just be the worm decomposing and bloating a bit. Tapeworms are generally spready by fleas and the larvae are eaten.

Ivermectin definitely does not kill tapeworms...Praziquantel does, though! Ask the vet for their recommendations, it is easy to get...cats and dogs get the same wormer and can be found at any pet store, Just check with the vet for dosage for chickens. Good Luck...it does look like a tapeworm...totally grossed out, but at least you will be able to treat it. You will probably see better health in your chickens after treatment (remember to treat all of them for it, if one has it, they all probably do).
