Haskell, Oklahoma

Send me a PM if you would like to attend. We have a few seats left. Learn how to turn poultry packing peanuts and those "extra" cockerels into decent table birds. If you're soft hearted, then keep those hennish capons for bug patrol, or awesome yard art. We'll have some white leghorns to caponize, so you could go home with what would eventually turn into one of these: tiny comb and wattles, gorgeous plumage, sweet personality.
Sir do you still do these? I need to be shown or have it done to a rooster, I live in Jenks.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back online. We have lone star ticks everywhere this season, and one (maybe three or four) got me a few weeks ago and I am still recovering from STARI. I'm planning to have a class at the end of July or the first week of August. I'm in the process of rounding up enough male chicks for the class. I like to have five chicks per participant so that hands-on training is substantial. Send me a PM if you are interested in attending.

Edited to add: I will be ordering tools in July or August: depends on how many people are interested. Shipping is cheaper per person if we have a large order. PM me for information.

I'm going to limit class sizes to six participants unless I have returning students there to help. I want everyone to have help when we start the hands-on portion of the class. Kassaundra - I hope you can join us on Friday, July 28th.

Requests for meeting days have been split between Friday and Saturday, so I've narrowed the dates down to July 28 (a Friday) and August 5th (a Saturday). I have plenty of cockerels, so participants can do five or more on class day, and helpers can do a few as well. I hope this makes it easier for people to attend. We'll meet from 9:00 a.m. until around 4:00 p.m.

I don't have the class schedules written up yet, but if you're interested in attending, please PM me soon.

I'll be there w/ bells on at least on the Frid class. lol

If it wasn't so far, I would volunteer a teaching aid for your class. I have a 6 week old cockerel that is occasionally mounting 8 week old pullets and mixing it up with an 8 week old cockerel. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it.

I have the tools I need on order. All I need is the rib spreader no later than this Monday and it's gonna be a DIY learning experience for me. I can improvise a scalpel and a retractor. He's either gonna become a peace loving capon or a tasty single serving meal. Not gonna have some broiler meat mutt wrecking havoc with my wheaten marans pullets and cockerel. I will say though that wheaten cockerel learned how to give just as well as he received from that broiler. This morning that broiler mutt was put into submission by the wheaten cockerel.

My brooders are full. It's been so hot these past few days that nobody is complaining even though the heat lamps aren't on. For those planning to attend one of the upcoming capon classes, I should have complete information early next week.

The upcoming capon class days were July 28th (Friday) and August 5th (Saturday), but I've had too many cancellations. I'm down to only one new student per class, so I'm going to have to cancel both classes. I will try to make a video as I'm working on the cockerels I raised for the classes so that those who are interested can get a video on disk.
