I do believe there are some holidays just around the corner, right?

Do you have any estimate as to what his live weight may be right now? If so, how do you think he would compare to a full roo at that age?

MIL is having a difficult time. She has been moved from the rehab hospital back to the operating hospital to diagnose and treat what may be pneumonia and a kidney infection, or something mimicking the same symptoms.

Kelly - I sent you a PM. Sorry for the tardiness of my reply.
No worries, you have got more important things to take care of. Best wishes for a speedy recovery of your MIL. Things are fine on my end.

Kelly

I'll let you know, BC, he's not from Standard bred stock, just some feedstore burds that happen to lay pretty well.
I have a few white breed ones(Rocks, Orpingtons, Giants), but most of the ones I have are just mixed birds out of my layers crossed with my Lavender Orpington Roo. The biggest ones I have are a BCM/LO cross.

I'll be really interested to know how big yours is to get a general idea about what to expect.

Long day spent caponizing. I have one slip, I will let him recover a week or two then go back in and get the one remaining teste, he just had a little to much blood loss for my comfort to get the second one out.

We got pics too of the Chinese tools in action, I will post them as soon as I get them edited.

Identified a couple of tool and set up changes that I need to make, mostly related to restraining.

How many birds went under the knife today?

I look forward to seeing the pictures of the tools in action. I saw some pictures showing a tool with a loop of string/wire attached. Do you know exactly how they use that? I assume it is to wrap around the lower testicle to remove it, but not quite sure how to keep it from slipping off.

Yes, Poco figured it out we tried to get a sequence of shots that showed that exact thing.

I think it was around 15, I lost track.

Did you know that when the Chinese caponize their 3 week old cockerels, they make their incision below the last rib instead of between the last 2 ribs?

Yes, that is when true they do, for their "production" meat birds, the video the in the capon set also shows them doing at many, many other ages, like in villages a caponizer would go through announcing his presence and people would bring out very large roolets for caponizing and he would do them all no matter the age.
