[GraphicDog attack, very bad back wound. I NEED HELP

Oh, I am so sorry!!! Great job getting her to a vet.

When I was a kid my chinchilla’s face was partially torn off by a raccoon. My parents Said we could have him put down and get a new chinchilla, or we could take him to the vet and try to save him. I opted for trying to save him. But he, too, passed away in the vet’s care… Seemed like he had a heart attack there. My point is simply that you did your best… Sometimes it’s just too much for the poor little critter to handle. Hugs.

I'm really surprised she didn't make it. I had a hen get attacked by a hawk, ripped a huge 3 inch hole in her side under the wing. I cleaned it with colloidal silver, put some iodine on it and then stitched it up with dental floss 'cause I had nothing else. Kept it clean and kept her warm. Damn bird is now the most arrogant diva over a year later. I did take her to a vet (the only one who does poultry) and they wanted over $300 to stitch her properly. I don't have that kind of money for a bird. Homemade medicine is best imho.

Oh dear. That is such sad news. I'm so very sorry. :hugs
I admire your willingness to ask for help when she was first injured, and the lengths you went to to seek help and care for her.
I'm certain that she was aware of your love, concern and tenderness as you treated her.
You made an extraordinary effort to save her, and should have no doubt that you did everything humanly possible to save her.
It just didn't have the outcome we all had hoped for.
May she Rest In Peace. :hugs

I'm now in bed, daisy was my cuddle buddy. Me and my mom are really broken up by this. I would like to get rid of the dog but i have no say over that. I hope this sorta thing doesn't happen again, but this was the second time and I have lost two hens now because of those dogs.

The dog probably can be trained. Our gentle golden retriever injured 3 pullets over about a month, after each had flown over a 4 foot fence into our yard. One died. We briefly used a shock collar on him to train him to stay away from them. It only took 2 shocks with the dead body lying in front of him to train him. He never would even look at our chickens again, and eventually we allowed 3 of the chickens to run around in our yard without a problem.
