Gray boxes all over

Is there a reason why there are empty, gray boxes in articles and in the forums? Is there any way to get rid of them? I use a Mac, so maybe that's the problem?

Are you using an ad-blocker?

If so, please keep in mind that ads are how we keep this service free for millions of people. We ask that our site visitors either get a Premium Feather Membership (PFM) or allow ads on the site. Otherwise, it starts to become a question of ethics to use a service for free without helping compensate the site that has tremendous expenses.

That makes sense. I'm going to check. I use an Internet Security program, so maybe it's blocking the ads too.

You can whitelist backyardchickens.com in each of your security blockers. (Sometimes says 'turn off for this site'). That way you're secure when wandering around the internet, but keeping the lights on at the safe site we all love!

Duck duck go has security features in it that are a little hidden. I ended up turning it off because it didn't play nice with BYC, or actually I couldn't fine tune it. It's still my search engine, I just don't use the whole add on.
