Hi there. Actually there is nothing you can do to change the color of eggs a chicken lays. That’s the interesting thing about chickens.

My gray hen has passed on, but she has 2 grandchildren that were just hatched.

The grey chick is a boy, and the girl, "Heilie" is about 5 months now and just started to lay eggs. Gray eggs like her mother, and grandmother's eggs. Lighter in color than her mother's though...

One of "Nell's" eggs.
Are Greyslyn's, her daughter's and Nell's eggs blue inside? I.e. are they green eggs with a heavy bloom resulting in the beautiful gray shade? Also, I'm sorry to hear Greyslyn passed away. She was one beautiful and unique Easter Egger.

The eggs are gray, with or without bloom, I can see the bloom here white dots, but the egg is gray.

No one asks BCM to wash first, before judging color.
Here is a purple BCM egg from my hen. If you washed it though it may not be purple any longer.
My gray eggs do have a sheen though rather than matte.
Matte eggs usually have more heavy bloom.
