to my knowledge there is only 1 guy here that rarely lets his birds out to free range. and knowing him...........it's just simple laziness! lol

Meaning most free range there? I know many that don't here, and a few that do. The conditions are horrible in many farms around here (we are just a few hours apart).

Here is my farm. How my animals are raised. SO I can't afford organic, but I can't imagine being caged and fed organic feed would result in a better product than this.

your set up is similar to what I have going on here. but my flock is young, and only a few laying. do you have to go around your yard and gather eggs?or do they go into nesting boxes to lay?

and yes, as I said. we live in the country, so we have the room and no one minds the commotion really. since free ranging is cheaper and healthier , most people here do it.

I JUST got my coop done. so yesterday was the first day that they were out of the coop. today , they're having quite a time! I took a vacation this week to fix my truck....yet I can't keep away from the coop!

and your coop/barn is huge compared to mine! I just built the main coop which is 7x8 , I have an old truck box camper as another coop, I converted my 20x20 dpg kennel into a coop as well, and I have to build a tractor for our silkies yet. you got it all in one area, i'm not even near that yet!! lots to build yet!

I was thinking that , that isn't much money!....I remember that as a teenager I went out with a farmers daughter. I think they sold theirs for the same price;.........and that was over 20 years ago!

problem is that that is the going rate here. hard to ''buck the system'' when everyone is selling for that. I was thinking about charging more ,but delivering. between my wife and I, we are all over the place anyhow!

Who buys the Quail. or is eggs your selling? I would like to do this to help out with food cost.

was going to start selling the eggs. a guy into work sells them for meat

but I don't know what to charge for a dozen of quail eggs really??? specialty item and all
