Thank you all again for your suggestions! We ended up with two rhode island red cockerels this spring, and even though they’re friendly towards us, they can be rough and aggressive towards our pullets. We got five chicks from TSC, two of them being golden comets and the other an isa brown pullet, the others, of course are roos. We also plan on getting a few more araucana or ameraucana pullets within the next couple weeks so our future roo isnt limited to only three hens. Would a buff orphington or brahma roo be too big for them?
We’ve already found homes for both of them, and fortunately they’ll be gone soon. That’s why i’m curious to see what breeds would be best for our ladies because i don’t want the same thing happening againDon't keep roos that hurt their hens. It's not fair for them and there are plenty of roos looking for homes that don't hurt their girls
Hello! Does anyone recommend any certain breed of rooster? We want a rooster that would be great towards our ladies, friendly towards us, and would protect his flock well. I know it matters more about the rooster itself, but are there any great rooster breeds that you have had a great experience with?
