Odds and ends today, warming up quickly now

I'm impatient too, lol. I keep telling myself it's not a big deal.

I'm impatient with my cochin babies too. They're 3 weeks old today, and I would bet money on who is male and female at this point. And I'm on the bad end of a cockerel heavy hatch! So I'm waiting for them to get big enough that I can get them to the coop and find homes for these boys.

Same. It's already as warm now at 10:30 as it got all day yesterday.

That's how I resist the incubation siren call - I know I'd end up majority cockerels every stinking time!

Yeah, we generally have good luck. Of the 4 I sold recently, 3 were male. The same person bought them all together. I didn't make a ton of money ($50 for all 4), but they went to a good home and it took less than 1 week to sell them, so I was happy with it. Assorted bantam chicks are about $6 each in stores. So I didn't do too bad, once you factor in feed and all.

Sophie and Ready have joined the Layer Club!
Sophie is a Wheaton Marans, omg I love her colors! And she is a very sweet girl . Except to the sparrows, she doesn't like them in the run.


Ready is an ISA Brown and Pirate's first mate. She's a good example of how their names get evolved - she started out as Big Red cause she was growing faster than the rest of the brood mates, that changed to Little Red when they outgrew her. Then it became Reddie, which I've now changed to Ready as in ready-set-go.
This girl literally throws herself at my feet in the drop and squat pose. I just say her name and she squats, kinda embarrassing . Let's just say if I had a roo, she'd be his favorite...

Hahaha that is hilarious!! Ready is a beautiful girl! So is Sophie! Congrats on your newest layers! I love the wheaten colors as well. Meyer sells wheaten OEs and my neighbor wants to get some when I place my order in the spring. I may get one just because she's pretty.

Thank you! I do too. We visited family over the weekend, and they didn't bother to tell us until we were already there that they "thought they might have a cold." Apparently, they did.

I almost got a Wheaton one, might still, but I'm really starting to want a couple of mosiacs and Meyer doesn't have those .
LoL I need to find someone local to do mix and swap hatchery shipments.
