Exactly! As soon as Gilbert started crowing, so did my OEGB pullet. I'm like girl, are you crazy?! And no doubt she is a she, she's got female specific coloring. She did it 2 or 3 times over a few days, but not in several days now, lol.

oh yea , back before we had boys a few of my girls would crow all the time

Still no egg from Reaper, maybe today? Sheesh, too many brown layers, LoL making it hard to tell them apart!

Ping's eggs are getting bigger, have a real heavy bloom, they almost look pink, especially sitting with the other browns. Penny and Ready have very similar eggs in color and shape. Pong, dunno, she just keeps growing, I've never had an Australorp before but that is one big girl!

Hopefully Reaper gives you that egg soon! Time for her to join the big girl club.

I'm excited for first eggs, but not as impatient as I thought I might be. Maybe because the days are shorter so even though these are pullets in their first winter, I'm still not sure how the day length affects them? Lol, I don't know. I'm ready, but I figured I'd be more obsessive. 😆

Happy Friday to everyone! Any big plans for the weekend? I believe we will be going to buy our Christmas tree! 🎄 Yay!
 
Christmas tree already!?! Oh wait, I saw a local nursery advertising Christmas trees were here:th.

Do y'all get one already cut or do y'all go to a tree farm and do the work yourself? 😁

LoL I do sound impatient, I'm always excited for their first egg 🤩. I suspect that except for Reaper, none of the other pullets will start to lay until we cross winter solstice. Princess currently holds the record of taking the longest to lay, she was just shy of 11 months.

We get one already cut. But we've been to Christmas tree farm several times in the past, and it's a ton of fun.
