Green thumb is itching, anyone else?

Rain here too Souteast Texas - rototiled the new potatoe plot just in time for it to turn to mud - we plant On or near valentine day - lol - not this year - I'm hoping for the end of Feb. - going to cut the eyes and dust with garden lime tomorrow - if I could get 1 full dry week with some north wind I'd go ahead and take my chances - hoping all my work wouldn't rot in the ground.
I just couldn't stand it I had to plant - so I did 8 fruit trees and 6 citrus, last weekend. Of course wouldn't you know it I was out covering them up tthis evening going to frost next 2 or 3 nights. Hoping this will be the last, usually down here were finished wilth frost by now - but weather is weird now days. I am having a hard time holding myself back from buying my bedding plants - Idid give in to strawberries going on a junk yard hunt this weekend for a couple old cast iron bathtubs 1 for strawberries and 1 for blackberries - going to place them alongside my sitting area by my chicken run - they should produce about the right amount for me to enjoy will I visit with the girls and share a little too. I'm thinking perhaps I need a greenhouse, that should go over big with hubby! I just presented my drawings for the chicken coop last night - good thing he was sitting down. I think it's wonderful fun - he'll come along eventually.

Morning All,
Up at 3:30 couldn't sleep. I've tried both the black cherry and the 100's. I did the 100 in a big pot .it worked out great. I also like the yellow pear shaped cherry tomato. All 3 mixed together in a tomato salad looks beautiful.sliver of red onion, fresh herbs ; ok I'm hungry
I think I'll take the blizzard over constant heavy rain for now.finally dug out of 27.8 inches.of snow.
I planted a weeping white pine and it is under about 4 ft of snow. I hope it survives.
Happy planting and planning.

I grew black cherry's last year and one plant gave me enough. Grew to over 6' easily. Next to it was a black Cherakee and it did well too. Though both got some horse manure.

Does anyone grow Celery? I'm reading up on it and planning to give it a try.

I think the only way I could grow celery would be to plant the bottom of one out of the store. I've tried everything else, lol.

Well now that might work, cuz DW gave me the middle section and I stuck it in the ground and it started to grow. It did have a few leaves on it though. So if you pull off the outer stalks and just stuck the little middle section in the ground it could work. There are lots of things from the grocery store you can plant.

Cutting celery is very strong flavored. It's good for flavoring soups and such. Not much for eating a la storebought celery.

I want some celeriac, but I sure don't know if that stuff will grow here. *sigh* I am still learning what will and will not grow in the Alabama heat. Grated celeriac with some dressing is actually a fantastic sandwich spread... Ate it all the time in Holland

And cut up in soups and stews. Especially split pea soup.

I doubt I actually ever do celery of any kind, it isn't my favorite veggie by any means, and it would be a huge struggle here through our insane summers.
