I started some last minute winter seedlings. Apparently I can still put them out until mid February... so we're trying! It's nice to have something green sprouting in my bathroom window. They're about an inch tall. Some old lettuce seed, some old Brussel sprout seed, some fresh cabbage seed and some fresh escarole seed. I never had a winter garden in Alabama, and I know I certainly should have tried in fall instead, but dangit, I had to grow *something* or I was going to end up starting my summer seeds way too early.
I've already ordered my seeds for this summer.. Luckily I can start planning early here. Some of it can be grown indoors as early as February, so yay!
I'm planning on getting a nice herb area started this year, kitchen herbs as well as medicinal... hoping to attract some polinators and natural predators. Ofcourse, I have WAY too much of everything. What the heck is someone going to do with 250 cumin seeds? Haha May have to have a little seed swap or something.
I've gotten my seed from Annie's heirlooms and I bought a two year 'seed of the month' subscription on Black Friday for a bargain.
I'm certainly excited and can't wait for all this cold to go away. The weather is extremely cold for this area. We never have this much frost in Alabama. Guess this will mean less mosquitoes next year?
