I need to get another cold frame put together so I can get some of my seeds started. Or I may just winter-sow them in 2 liter soda bottles. Decisions, decisions...

I plan on winter sowing quite a bit this year, I will only start a few special plants in the house, since I don't have very much room at all for them.

Coldframes and winter sowing are my only early seed starting options since we're living in a 22' camper right now.

I usually start my wsing on the winter equinox but this year we were still in the 50's and 60's at that time. We just had two days of winter and are supposed to be in the 50's again tomorrow.

Am sooo ready to garden now that all the seed & plant catalogs are flooding my mailbox. And just like with chickens, I want one of everything! Must plant some Foxglove & Hollyhocks this year. Red Poppies for sure! And a whole endless list of others. Hmmm, maybe I'll start some seeds this weekend.

Same here as far as winter goes. This year was the first time I even knew about winter sowing, so this is to be my first ever attempt, that is if we get winter. (Don't get me wrong I would love to not have winter)

22' camper, oh my that is cramped. My home is larger then that, but still tiny by most standards, and have very little usable window space.

I've never tried winter sewing or cold frames. I have a unheated greenhouse, that I start some seed in, but most of it gets transplanted to the garden later, so that doesn't count. What crops are best for winter sewing?

Have any of you guys done the hotframe with raw manure? You're supposed to dig a hole, put the manure in and then place your plants in (pots maybe?) in the hot frame. I wanna try it since we have so much poop around here. I have all that danged glass I need to use and we can't afford a greenhouse right now. Think this would work for getting some stuff started?

Well it's not likely I'll be planting anything to soon. I do hope to use the hoop coop run as a green house by hanging shelves up where the chickens can't get things. I think I posted pics of it.
I know the rhubarb check cleared but I hope they don't sent the roots now. Up until day before yesterday we were in the 50's. Tonight we expect it in the single digits. Lord have mercy.
I snow blowed around the yard today an made my path so I can get to the coops. It looks pretty from inside the house.

I haven't found out why pics look so dark. This was taken at noon so it was pretty light out. As you can see the runs are covered with plastic so the birds can go out and get some fresh air.
