Greener Pastures

After 3 surgeries on my right knee last year

, and the very high temperatures sapping all of my streangth due to comming down with diabetes.

I need to find

greener pastures with minimum predators for free ranging,

mild temperatures,

low humidity,

very few biting insects,

and where chicken production costs are extreamely low ( I want to ... eat mor chik'in!).

So, please can you all offer recomendations on your ideal location.

Well not sure I can help you out as to where to move to, but I can say Delaware ain't it- with humidity and mosquitoes in the summer and it's about thirteen degrees out now.

California is the place you wanna be, so load up your truck and move to... Oh wait I think it's real expensive there.

To find the perfect environment will be costly, because others have wanted the same for generations. That's why all of these places are big cities now, like San Diego, Santa Fe, Flagstaff, etc.

Lots of people come here to Tucson for all of those reasons-- also, right now land and houses are insanely cheap (I'd look in Marana)

Yea, I need to flea the Golden State's very arrid and HOT climate, and the SMOG,( heat, humidity, and smog leaves me totally exhausted) , predators galore, and very BAD economy. For every minimum wage job opening , there is at least 300 that apply. All groceries have increased in price while at the same time I can buy a whole dressed, frozen chicken at $0.79/lb.. Gas prices has risen @ $0.69 in the last 6 months.Yet, livestock feed has doubled and trippled over the last 3 years. Then there is the very high illegal population... I can drive to the edge of town with my pickup, let out a whisstle and have a dozen illegals jump into the pickup bed and they will work for $2-$3 cash an hour. For me, workmans' comp inusrance premium would run a shade under $10,000/ year, so I am the owner and only employee. Talk about insane housing prices... over 4,300++ homes have been auctioned off last year within 30 miles of our place. One of my friends baught a 9 year old 3 bedroom 2 bath 1659 sq ft home on a 10,000 sq ft lot for $ 49,000. Another friend baught a 19 year old 4 bedroom, 3 bath 3250 sq ft home and 3 car garage on 2.5 acres for $74,000. About 10 % of their value just 2 years ago. In other words, totally different from where I am at.

I left the same area you are from and came to Idaho.
There are many things I miss; good restaurants, art galleries, diversity, the coast, but there are many things I don't miss; the crime, traffic, the smog, the fog, the heat, keeping up with the Jones, expensive housing, fancy cars, COMMUTING. . .
feed costs are low here as are groceries. gas seems to be a bit higher, education is not as good, this is NOT a welfare state so a lot of that mentality is missing, however it is a right to work state, which basicly means you can be fired for any reason or no reason at all, and have no recourse.
This is a religious state. That one was a shocker to me! people all over have these yellow signs with the ten commandments on them in their yards, and there is one predominant religion.
anyway all said and done we thought of going back, even bought property in Sonora, and the kids begged to stay here so much that we did, now we visit CA.
