Greetings everyone from Tilghman Island, MD

Hello from Tilghman,
I joined here, but did not post an introduction. I am a newly retired nurse educator (it was time), Nana, wife, champion of underdogs, and lover of wildlife. We have wild turkey, deer, eagles, Great blue heron, ducks, geese, bunnies, squirrels, and more that I enjoy watching daily. After a pair of peafowl showed up and peaked my interest, started feeding them (they were… after all knocking on the doors with their beaks for food). Long story short, the female disappeared with hatched young ones…and the male stayed around hanging out with the wild turkeys. He appeared lonely, so I decided (along with my hubby) to get him two peahens. Now he is MIA…. BUT…. I love these birds… and will figure out if he’s in hiding, or they now need a new “dude” I. Their lives…. Y’all have. A lot of great tips! Thanks for keeping me informed, and for being so welcoming!
Welcome to BYC!!

Hello all, we have had the two newbie peahens in a pen since Dec. 14th. They are very acclimated. The male we brought them to our home for is still gone. We are assuming he is gone. Thus, we are being given a male from the farm where our peahens originally came from. We have to capture him, since her bird man is unavailable. So… we have been baiting a pen on her farm, using a deer trail cam to time when they come in, and now sit and wait for them to enter the pens daily. We feed them in the pen 2x daily, and spend 2hrs waiting. No luck it has been 2 weeks. We do
Not want to release our girls at home
To free range until a male is present. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We will
Probably have to buy one from somewhere else if no luck after a bit longer. Thanks in advance, Cathy
