Welcome Donna; always glad to have new blood.Hello everyone!
My name is Donna, I’m an aspiring artist and writer and I’m living on my family’s farm in Northeastern Ontario. I just moved back recently and I’m excited about all the possibilities that this gorgeous property offers. We have 500 acres, most of which is heavily wooded. I’m not looking to start a large-scale operation, just a subsistence/hobby farm. Maybe get into rescuing farm animals somewhere down the line.
I’m not planning to dive in head first though; for now I’m planning out a garden and in the spring I would love to start raising a small flock of chickens. Just 6 or so to start out.
In the mean time I’ve come here to dig through the forum archives and learn everything I can so that when I do eventually bring home my first chickens I’ll have at least some idea of what I’m doing, and be able to give my girls the care they deserve. For the first little while I’ll probably do a lot of lurking, but I’m eager to get to know you all! From what I’ve seen so far this seems like a wonderful, friendly community and I’m happy to be a part of it.
Welcome Donna; always glad to have new blood.
Sounds like a nice place you have there, with a lot of potential. Any utilities on it yet?
