My name is Keren and my family and I live in Queensland Australia.
It is heading into summer here, so we are gearing up for the heat.
We have lohman chickens who are all very young, just starting to lay.
My two children, Jasmine 4 and Riley 2, love to chase them and collect the eggs.
Does anyone have tips on how to keep the chooks cool over a very hot and humid summer?
This site has helped me so much already, thank you all for sharing your experiences, it is a big help to us beginners.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.
Keren.

Hi and Welcome to this wonderful friendly site. May I also wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year. We could do with some heat over in the UK it is freezing!! brrrr.

Regarding you "girlies" provide plenty of shade and fresh cool water.....other than that take a look at their "combs" a hen sweats from the comb, if her comb has dropped (for want of a better word) over she is too hot, and will need to be put in a shaded area......post any further questions when you are ready we all love to help out. Good luck
