Hi, I'm Amy and I'm from NW Ohio. We have a saying here: "If our summers don't kill ya, our winters will!"
I've been keeping chickens since 2008 and it's a hobby I truly enjoy. My current flock is 18 hens (recently rescued/adopted a few) last night. My son and are in the process of designing a chickens tractor for grazing birds in warm months, and a smaller tractor just for a broody bantam to set eggs for me. I plan to try breeding Buckeyes this year! I'm excited and this is something I've wanted to do for 2 years now, so it's high time to get to it! My main coop is 8 x 8 with a 20 x 24' run. I am buying a coworkers' coop which is 4' x 6' with a 6 x 10 attached run. I plan to use the smaller coop for the bantams I will use to set my Buckeye's eggs. So this is going to be a fun year full of learning experiences and hopefully making new friends with you fine folks here on BYC!
