I grew up on a farm, but live in the city now. Last year we rescued a wild duckling from being road kill with the idea to release once fully grown. Unfortunately (fortunatley for us) she is a mallard cross and may not be released. Her name is Shelby. We got her a friend, Pekin (named Snowy) and they started laying eggs. I replaced their eggs with chicken eggs and now we have three Boschvelder chickens (Vink, Tink and Zeus) . Shelby was broody again after that and we placed Pekin eggs that we received from a local farmer, two hatched (Fluff and Scruff). So from one little duck we now have a small zoo and loving it.
