I'm looking for information to raise backyard chickens for egg production. Eventually would like to be able to raise chickens and ducks for meat production. We have bobcats in the neighborhood that got our first 6 chickens after they had finally begun laying eggs.

Properly baited electric fencing is probably the best deterrent for bobcats.

Unfortunately any type of electric fence is not allowed in our (city) neighborhood. We've tried baiting a large animal trap without results.

Thank you all for the welcomes! Learning a lot reading all these threads. I've just processed my first 3 drakes a friend gave me. Had some difficulty identifying if these drakes are okay to eat. I don't know what "normal" internal organs look like. Any ideas where to get information? If the organs are "ify" and the meat still looks okay, are they edible?
