I don't know how much posting I will do but I am an avid reader so I can learn information. Years ago we kept chickens (or mostly my daughter did) with a strange assortment of makeshift items for a coop and run. Now after relocating, my husband and I are considering raising chickens ourselves and want to get ideas for building our own coop and run...all while making the maintenance as easy as possible since we are getting on in years.
We are looking forward to gleaning from the wisdom of others and I recall this was the site my daughter used to always reference.

Welcome to BYC, and back into chicken keeping! This is definitely the right place for all things backyard chickens! Since you love doing research, you can take a look at the articles section of our forum, it's a great place to learn more about the modern T-Rex! I suggest, since you're looking to build a coop, visit the chicken coops section of the articles page, as well as the learning center, and then click on the housing and feeding your chickens category for more information. You can also take a look at the managing your flock section, so you can learn even more! If you want more specific advice, like for example what breed to get, don't hesitate to make a thread about it, I'm sure lots of knowledgeable people will be willing to help you make a selection! Hope you enjoy your time here :welcome

Welcome, I'm in PNW too! As for posting, you'll see peeps that have been on here for just a few years with a grillion posts and then peeps like me, I've been using this place as the best centralized library for chickening since 2009 and I don't have a grillion posts, lol. Whenever I get a new batch of chicks I refresh my memory with threads below. After many years my greatest coop game changer/improvement has been poop boards! Welcome aboard and good luck with your first/next flock ENJOY!!
