I am new here but not to chickens. I have about 90 hens and 7 roosters. From a few weeks to 2 years old. I have all different breeds. I even hatch my own mixed mutts. I have them mostly to sell the eggs and I also process them for dinner. Mine free range all day and stay in a coop at night that is more of a sturdy shed than a standard coop. I don't light or heat the coop but still get eggs year round because I always try to keep younger birds.

We're glad to have you.

It sounds like you have a lovely flock! Good luck with them.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Wow! You have a really big flock. Do you ever have predator problems free ranging them? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

For the most part only dogs. The coop is next to the house and I am always home to keep an eye on things. I had a problem with a fox last June when I couldn't put up the chickens at night. Our old set up collapsed in a huge storm. In the early morning hours any chicken that would wander the edge of the property would get taken. Once we rebuilt then we haven't had any issues except for a loose dog last week.
