Hi All,
My wife and I are brand-spanking new to chickens. We just recently moved from the heart of the SF Bay Area to the foothills, and now own five open, flat acres just begging to used. I've planted some fruit trees, got the vegetable garden going, and now we're adding chickens. All this stuff will just be on a hobby-basis - we both still work regular jobs and have no plans to change that. Two weeks ago we bought nine chicks of various breeds and are somewhat infatuated with watching them change from day-to-day. I'm now scrambling to get their home built. As much as I would've loved to build it myself, my schedule just doesn't afford me the time, so we've contracted it out. We're very excited to see it all come together. Anyhow, I've been peeking in on this site for a few months and already have read a ton of useful information. I figured it was finally time to register and say "hi". Also, I have questions about deep litter method, which I will post in the appropriate area. Thank you to all for your contributions to this site to help out us newbies.
