Grey egg yokes!

Egg yoke greyish color​

We’ve been finding some eggs from our hens with yokes that are a greyish color instead of the normal bright yellow. Can you tell me why?

Perhaps they aren't getting sufficient carotenoids in their diet to color the yolks.

In countries that only have white corn in the feed, yolks can be almost white.

Hmmm, They all get the same feed and it’s not all eggs, but I’ll check that out.

They do free range. But get some scratch and lay mash too. These yokes are definitely grey, not white.

How old are the birds? Is this a new thing, or has this bird (birds?) always laid this color yolks? I'm wondering if during free ranging, this one, or several, have found something growing that they find particularly tasty and are gorging on it, causing the discoloration.
Have you eaten any? Is taste/smell/texture normal?
