I put 5-7 full size deli slices of American or Kraft singles on mine usually. But I found out today most people or at least a lot of people only do 2-3 slices at most. I tried 3 tonight and surprisingly, it was just as good!!!! Hahaha oops
stop using american cheese. That's what's holding your sammy back.

Sometimes I put a slice or two of deli lunch meat in there. Mesquite smoked turkey usually. So bread, a slice of smoked cheddar, the meat, a slice of aged Swiss, a light smear of grey poupon mustard, then the second slice of bread. Honey wheat. Lightly buttered, grilled, flipped, grilled again. Cut on the diagonal and served with a slice of Claussen dill pickle. A pleasant repast indeed.

Personal foul. That's a melt not a grilled cheese. 15 yards, automatic first down.

Hmmm I do like cheddar, provolone, mozzarella, and various other kinds so maybe I’ll have to try those on it!!!
Experiment. There are lots of good combinations out there. Grilled cheese is infinitely customizable. Today's "muenster + white cheddar on marble rye with garlic herb butter" can be tomorrow's "wonder bread, colby jack, and plain ol' salted butter". Pepper jack and a splash of sriracha mayo for a spicy and savory hit, and for you Dawg, Philly with cinnamon and nutella on Texas toast with honey apple butter. Cream cheese is technically cheese.
