Grit...can you make it from stuff outside?

I don’t live in the US so yeah not even sure where I’d get non treated granite

Uh, nothing to do with treated, nearly all granite is going to have massive amounts of toxic heavy metals. Doesn't matter where it comes from, at the very least I would do a lead test on any grit unless it was a commercial brand.
