I forgot to say but I gave him a bath shortly after the above post so he is now squeaky clean again LOL which is perfect cause we were just out on the marsh right before that. :lau

Some mud came off his paws/thighs from that (the marsh) but not a ton or a super disgusting amount thankfully LOL

But yeah.

Trying to figure out how often to bathe him now LOL

Google says every 4-6 weeks for medium to longer haired dogs but short haired dogs can go 1-3 months between bathes apparently LOL

I had no idea it was supposed to be so often! :th

I always thought too often was bad for their skin and coats. But that’s only like weekly or daily bathes. But even those are MAYBE okay now with the right products???????????? IDK.

Anyways, I was thinking every like 2 months or so but maybe it should be monthly??????? At least in the summer with all the allergens and running around on the marsh, etc. ??????????

IDK LOL

Also, I just want him to be clean and non smelly so my room doesn’t start smelling weird and so people aren’t petting a gross dog on walks LOL

So I’m leaning maybe more towards monthly or 6 weeks LOL
Eh, unless they start stinking or their fur feels coarse before then, I think every couple months or even longer is fine for a short-haired dog. But that's coming from a person who can go without a shower for several days.

Thanks!!!!!! That makes sense!!!!! LOL his coat is always nice and soft and shiny LOL but he does usually start getting a little odoriferous/“doggy odor” smelling towards the end of the two months so I think maybe it needs to be slightly more often like 6 weeks? Maybe not every month but I know the full 8 or even this 7, he had that doggy odor LOL I WISH I could do the full 2 or even 3 months. 😭 we actually used to not bathe as often but now we need to LOL that said, I feel you on the shower thing :lau when I’m really bad off mental health wise, I’ve been known to do that occasionally. :lau  I’m better now though LOL

Id say monthly or if doing wvery 2 months do a waterless bath in between

That’s a great idea, thanks!!!!!!!!! I hadn’t even thought of waterless bathes!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if I could stretch it to like 3 months or something with the waterless bathes? I mean, it’s still technically shampoo LOL I probably shouldn’t though!!!!!! But it looks like they have all sorts of foams and sprays and even legit shampoos now. I was thinking it’d be like a powder or something LOL that’s pretty cool! He hates being sprayed so a deodorizing spray is out of the question but maybe a foam or no rinse shampoo could work. Or I could just bathe him on a schedule and stick to that and then there’d be no need for waterless bathes LOL that’s probably best because then I don’t have to buy another product. :lau

I’m gonna try for every month but we’ll see LOL maybe every month on the 8th (since I did it on the 8th this time) and then apply his flea & tick stuff on the 11th every month to give him plenty of time to dry since technically everything I’ve read says no bathing for 48 hours before or after applying so I figured if I give it an extra day or half day or whatever just to make sure, it’d be better LOL or maybe I could give it even longer and do the 12th or even a full week later (15th)? Would that be better? LOL
