Gross or an acceptable use?

A pullet is a female chicken under the age of one year. At one year of age, she becomes a hen. I think all pullets should get a Pullet Party, the day before they turn one year old!

We are NEW to chickens but the fact they we KNOW where the eggs come from, takes away the whole "sterile, bacon comes from the fridge, not a pig" environment, loL!

My husband says he won't eat them. And people say they have a different flavor, so we haven't eaten any yet.

HOWEVER, I am planning on baking a cake and using those eggs and not saying a darn thing until after it is completely gone!

Maybe that will get us both over that little hump!

Eggs are eggs, thank goodness for eggs bit or small they are all very healthy and great for you.

I am suprised your DH's family would not eat the eggs...? I dont think I have ever heard of that...!
You can still use them in cakes and scrambled eggs and so forth...he would never know the difference....?

My dad told me yesterday that my mom won't eat brown eggs. I'm 34 and NEVER knew that about her!!

Guess she won't get any of my "icky brown pullet eggs".

I asked my dad if she would eat green or blue eggs (unfortunately we have no EEers in our flock). He was shocked to hear that there are such things. Maybe my next flock will include some EEers just to cluck with my parents' idea of what eggs are/should be.

Had my cholesterol levels checked 2 weeks ago. My bad chol was 213 (supposed to be <200). My good chol was 56 and the nurse flipped out and said keep doing whatever I'm doing 'cause that's awesome. My ratio was 3.5 (<5.0) and she said I have NO WORRIES!!

Man my girls still haven't started yet, I have them on Layena now and nope...nothing LoL

I feed my checkens and dogs eggs regularly since I am allergic and Lucas can only eat so many LoL

That hubby must have one heckuva mule gene (oops, sorry, I know some very flexible mules). I agree, make yourself something super yummy, and deny the man access. Then make something he won't know anything about egg content and make sure he eats plenty before "laying" the truth on him:plbb. And if you haven't grown any extra body parts yet, maybe those pullet eggs actually contain the patience you're going to need. May your nest box be blessed!

Well,

While I don't agree with hubby, out of respect for his past, his family etc. I would not push the issue or trick him. Your girls will give full sized eggs soon enough, and he'll be happy to eat those.

For his granmother it was probably a simple reason such as she had too many eggs anyway, and did not consider the yolkless ones to have enough nutrition to feed her kids. Or they were too small to sell or something, and a family habit/ outlook began. These kinds of decisions were made frequently in farm families especially ones that suffered through the depression years. My mother, a thin child, was fed only cream, or half and half if times were tough and my grandmother needed the butter money, in hopes she would grow and thrive. You can imagine what happened when my family found out I was giving my babies SKIM milk on occasion (they lived).
