Ground of coop and run question

My coop is being delivered this week and the area currently has pine nuggets. What should I do? Clear it and put sand and hay? Coop and run have open flooring. Thanks!!!!

Is your run and coop on high ground with good drainage during storms and runoff? Or is that area prone to getting soggy during damp weather? That will determine what bedding you want to use. Also, if your run isn't covered, will rainfall cause the ground to remain soggy for a while? Don't wait until wet weather to find out if you have a run-off problem.

Personally, I use wood shavings in my coop and sand in my covered run.

It's not on high ground. Seems to stay a bit wet. Coop has roof, run doesn't have a roof. Playsand? Also, do u think I should put any kind of rocks under the pine shavings in the coop?
