Growing fodder for chickens

So they could make more money and also be able to say its grown without this or that. They never want anything healthier. It's all about money. But certified organic isn't organic enough anymore... And USDA standards have always been lacking. I find if the US anything states anything it probably shouldn't be trusted... The USDA, the FDA...they're a bunch of liars in it to win it just like everyone else.

Now you have to look for things that specifically say non GMO. It's ridiculous. But when the organic craze started is when these companies started trying to come up with ways to get rid of weeds and bugs without spraying... Even the things that are supposed to be good for us, aren't clear... It's a tough one. So certified organic non GMO would be good, but no longer is certified organic all that comforting by itself...
Unless it says 100% organic it can still be marked as organic, and contain upwards of 30% GMO foods. And there are more than soy and corn now too. The sugar beet is now GMO, and has been approved for use in products. So... When something contains sugar there is no way to tell if its cane sugar or GMO beet sugar, unless it specifically says cane sugar.

So USDA certified organic doesnt really mean crap. The USDA is not known for keeping human welfare at the forefront of their goings on.
Cottonseed and canola are also GMO now too. So, no sugar, no oil... They're sneaking right in on us.

They are too big though. The government lets whoever is making money have basically free range to do whatever they want as long as that money keeps coming. My issue is that there's only so much money a person needs. I don't get all the greed. If I have enough to pay my bills and keep the kids in clothes than I'm happy...

Just another good reason not to trust/depend on the government or it's affiliates.

I just started last Friday bought 100 of barley seed. Thought I would try that first. Next time I will add some oats seed to it. I got the barley at a small feed store. Anyway soaked, rinsed, rinsed. Then put it in grow pans that I had punched holes in. I put a pan under it to catch the water runoff. Oh I also mist it in between the two rinses. Anyway fodder is up about 1 to 1 &1/2 inches. So happy to see the growth. I put 1/4 inch of seed into each pan, the sides are starting to push out. Next time I won't put the seed that deep. I weighed a pan today and it was up to 8 & 1/2 lbs. Pretty good for my first time, I am going to give it to the 18 girls and 9 ducks on Saturday. I have four & a half growing pans one days apart. So I hope I am good for at least 1 week.
