Growing fodder for chickens

I got the small batch I am using to test the idea at Whole Foods. (I didn't want to commit to a 50lb bag until I was sure it was something I wanted to pursue)

Could Boyce possibly carry something like that?

Online, one possibility is Pleasant Hill Grain.

Have you called health food stores?  They often carry bulk grains.

I am going into waxahachie tomorrow so the health food stores are on my list as is Boyce's. I don't know why my first feed store search didn't show Boyce's but thank you for letting me know about that one :).

Dandelions would be great
I have a plot of dandelions getting established. I was amazed at how long they take to grow. I planted seeds late last spring. I didn't get any dandelion looking greens until almost winter. They're still in there doing their thing and I water them once in a while during the winter when we don't get any rain or snow for awhile. Hopefully next year I'll be able to harvest a lot more leaves from them for the birds!

Mine love tomatoes also, the article says tomatoe leaves though and I've never seen them eat the leaves in the garden, just the tomatoes.
Mine love tomatoes, too. They also occasionally eat the leaves and there has never been a problem. Mine will eat almost anything green including ivy and ice plant. I used to have a problem with an overgrowth of both but my chicken weeders have taken care of that for me.

I understand that when I go into my feed store and ask for wheat - I'm to specify "Feed" Grade and not "seed" grade ?
I read early on in the thread that the seed grade might be treated with chemicals.

When I went into the local feed store and asked for "feed" grade wheat, the guy looked at me like I had asked him for a dead cat or something.
I don't think i am using the right terms.

I think whole wheat or wheat berries might be more accurate. I buy either red wheat berries from a health food store or white white berries from Azure Standard.
