Growing Fodder

Got the fodder rack and misting system set up in the basement tub. I think I want the next taller legs and raise it up a bit and put a bit more room between the spray nozzles and the plants. Other than that I think I have a winner. I really like that the misting heads can spray and not get everywhere like before.

I think I need a new shower curtain liner lol.

Sweet!
I assume the trays have drain holes?
Do I dare ask what elaborate control/timing system you have on the pump feeding the sprayers? I say 'dare' only because your answer will probably be over my head.
Looks like that shower curtain is doing just what you need it to.

Edit: Yes there are a few holes around the edge, I found that 3 on each edge was plenty.

This is the misting nozzles I used.

The water timer is an Orbit I got from Lowes a few years ago. They don't make that model any more but this one is similar.

I got the light fixtures from Menards for $8 each and the T8 Grow Bulbs from there as well. I also got the rack from Menards they sell just the extra shelves and legs so you don't have to buy a full rack with 4 shelves.

Really very simple to set up, I got a faucet adapter to garden hose and screwed the water timer on and set up the frequency and duration. The model I have you set the time of day and the start time then forget about it. Now I need some way to remember to start the seeds soaking lol I forgot last night.

This is probably a silly question but is there a reason you cannot use barley bought at the grocery store?

Didn't know you could get barley from the grocery store. Probably a LOT more expensive than a 50 pound sack of wheat at $10.50. Just searching at my favorite grocery store the only thing they have is pearled barley and quick barley and from what I understand neither one will sprout. I still have one small feed store to check out when I get the remaining 49.75 pounds of wheat sprouted.

This morning the tray in the right rear is 5" tall, I think it's time for a treat this afternoon. The next tray is 2 days behind the tall one, the rest are one day apart. I think to get 7 days worth of trays I think I'll use a smaller one for day 1 and day 2 then move them to the bigger tray. I had to grab my steamer basket from my brewing supplies this morning to put todays into.
