I certainly wasn't offended or anything fishman..... Most do not know these things, and can be a daunting task even if you know how to do it. Specializing in a few things is certainly easier. Even most homesteading minded folks in todays culture wouldn't bother going into the full range of things. I see it as a trend likely to grow, and I am getting into many aspects of this simply to help pave the way for others in my area, which has a few variables that other areas don't have. Elevation and being arid.
The option is on the table for those interested though. The way our economy seems to be going, this just might end up on the table for more families out there as well. Feed prices for these birds just might get cost prohibitive within the next few years, and hinder many from getting into raising birds (which IS new for me) or force others out. It just might take supplementing the diet or raising it all to be able to keep raising them.
I certainly do not mean to sound alarmist if I do, simple economics. Many sources see food prices as likely to rise, and they have been for a few years now.
