Got my first egg about 2 weeks ago, I was ecstatic! The wife said it looked like a quail egg. I have 6 hens and a rooster (had 2 roosters but a coon took care of one of them) Still only getting one small egg a day. Gave the hens a pep talk tonight and assigned 3 of them to lay an egg tomorrow. Who knows, talked to the roosters about crowing and the next day they were squalking trying to crow!!!
It is wonderful to go to the coop and see a little gem lying there, freshly laid! Our first EE girl started laying a week ago today and we have had 6 pinkish-brown eggs from her so far, although one or two might be hidden in the garden, as she wanders around it, and Sunday we came across one in the raspberry patch.
She laid her first egg on the hottest day ever recorded in coastal BC; at 38 degrees!!!
I'm hoping for a blue or green from my other EE pullet!!!
Yup, looks like a BO egg!!! We got our first BO egg today too.
Love those girls. I have 2 of 8 EEs laying right now, and they are doing pretty good at laying nearly daily. Sooo - who knows? Where one has laid an egg, others are sure to follow. Congrats on the new joyous find!!!
