Miss P - JMU is $20K a year ($19,602).. in-state and thats one of the cheaper schools she was accepted at. VT is even higher. It goes up each year after the first and thats living on campus, not off

all in 4 years it'll total out at around $100K. Out-of-state is double the cost of in-state tuition.

We told her to attend CC for the first 2 years, then transfer to a 4 year University.. again its the little red faced brat coming out and the "I want" vs. the "I need/can afford" PVCC is $90 per credit hour, $5700 all-in (she will need 63 credit hours for an A.S. degree) plus all incidentals (gas, car, insurance, housing *becasue remember, she doesnt want to live HERE..God forbid!

She'll learn... the hard way... but eventually she'll learn.

I hear it quite often for about a year now, I have a 16 yo DS who in fact looks nineteen and if I was to let him grow his beard...he would look even older

.
Now wonders why he can't grow out his hair like so & so's ...cause I (me) do not want your hair long like so & so's...well can I grow out my beard ....

no... DS then rollseyes " I can't wait till I'm 18", I then ask "why", he replies "then I can grow out my hair and beard if I want", my reply "nope not livin' here you are not..again he rolleyes. DS says "I don't understand why dad won't give me his old truck (mind you my DH old truck is a 1949 chevy pick up set up on four wheel drive)
ep.gif
, as if how could he deny him that truck!!! ENTITLEMENT....Cause it is dad's truck given to him from his dad ..maybe someday it may be yours not right now...again rolleyes, and yes I have pinched him for rolling his eyes he tells me I'm mean

anyway most of the time he is a pretty good kid I really can't complain much but I do get the can't wait till I'm 18 quite often.......... a close friend of mine (we grew up together and our parents are friends) will call each other ever now and then for some support and venting (she has a 16 yo girl) we are just tryin' to get through the storm with out injuries
clap.gif
and lots and lots of prayers goin' up for these kiddos

it is rough out here. Oh they are gonna learn the hard way...but the important thing is that they learn.
And I would love to get a hold of some of those parents for letting their kids do whar ever they want

I think you'll find things changing very soon. The people of my generation, who are just starting to raise their own children, are looking at the spoiled brats in the malls and the restaurants and the supermarkets and thinking, no way are we going to raise our kids to be like that.

Remember, society kind of swings from one extreme to the other. I think we're in one of those transistion periods right now...moving back toward old-fashioned values, manners, self-sufficiency and honor.

ugh,i have a 18yr old stepdaughter and i think she is the most annoying self centered idiot on the planet. she makes me angerier than anyone else i have ever met.

i hope your day improves though!

Nope I already have 2. but mine are 18 and 20. think just because they are in college they don''t have to lift a finger to do anything. not even clean their rooms. I get stuck doing everything. Dh won't lift a finger after he gets home won't even take the garbage out.

Maybe it depends on what state you live in. Pennsylvania state schools are not cheap. You'd have a very hard time finding a school for under $2000 a sem. Maybe a community college but the nearest comm colleges to me are an hour drive(Fuel and vehicle expenses would be similar to living at the school). Often with financial packages you receive from expensive private schools are no more than the state schools because the help you get from state schools is so limited.
Higher education is financially difficult if not impossible without backing from your parents.

Truth be told and embarassed to admit....I was a know-it-all, smart mouth, disrespectful nightmare at 18! Now, I look back and feel bad for what my parents had to endure...
Here's a cup of tea...

, an iPod so you can shut out the world and listen to some great music, a maid to clean up his mess and a crystal ball so you can see what a fine fellow he ends up turning into someday...
Hang in there!
