So where do you see the mottling? I looked and cant see any. And remember Dustin just because its not a recognized variety doesnt mean it isnt one. There are tons of people that would say you are lying if you told them you had dun barred birds but tons of them exist.

I say if anything that bird is a barred buff columbian, the barring isnt showing up well so maybe a buff columbian cuckoo. If you took away the barring he would be buff columbian.

I agree with Dustin, crele, mille fleur, and old english in the background. Definately not barred black tailed buff.

Not crele--the colouring is almost opposite what it should be (black where it should be gold/red, red/gold where it should be black). With the quality of the photo I can't say whether the lighter/whiter portions in the buff areas are barred or mottled, or even laced.

One thing is sure--he carries barring

I discovered the hard way that lots of people from lots of different localities pronounce things (or "bastardize"things) differently than other places. In a couple of areas in the south the Crele is called Creole (no matter how improper). I didn't know it was incorrect until I got on BYC. Now I have to remember that the Crele OE that I thought were so pretty were not named because the splashy bright colors reminded someone of Mardi Gras!

Oh well, live and learn.
By the way- I have learned more from this site than any group of chicken keepers I have ever associated with!

Crele is barred black brested bird.Look at Cackle'spictures one more time. The bird we are tolking about may have only one copy of Co gene but is barred black tailed buff

Is barring dominant?
Would his offspring carry the gene at all?

Would be interesting to get a barred true Serama...I wonder if you could breed it to certain colors and be able to tell the sex of the chicks....
